Directory gives information on approximately 12,300
desalination projects in 155 countries around the world
with a combined capacity of 47 million cubic me¬tres
contracted since before December 31 2005. Year-on-year
growth rates are difficult to ascertain because large
plants (such as the 800,000m3/d Shoaiba III plant in
Saudi Arabia) skew the data. However compar¬ing
the average annual capacity contracted over between
2001 and 2005 and the average annual capacity contracted
over the previous five years, suggests that the market
for new capacity is growing at the rate of 25% per year. |
